Making Buttons

Once you are happy with your animal illustration, you are going to convert your geometric animal into a button using Adobe Illustrator.

File - Place the button graphic onto a new layer move it lower on the layer panel. Or draw your own with the oval tool- 1.837 total size and 1.375 inside "red line" graphic cut of.

Select all parts of the button, ctr + G (group) them.
Size your button the same size as the 1.5" template. 

The art work should be not greater than the centre red line, parts can go to the outside line, but will wrap around the edge.
Size the page to the diameter of the button. File- Document Set-up- Edit Art Boards.
Save as "_yourname_button. ai".

Export your button graphic as a jpeg.
Save the jpeg to the StudentShare- Computer Arts- Button - folder.
We will put all buttons on one or two sheets and print them all together.

/5          Details- Many shapes, colours, and tones were used to capture varying tones and shading of the animal.            
/5          Likeness- The overall illustration resembles the animal.                                                                                                                        
/5          Background detail- Artist created a setting for the geometric animal. Works with animal.
/5          Creativity- how is it unique to you? Did you change anything from the original animal?
/5          Challenge- On a scale from 1-5, how difficult was this design for you?

  1. What animal did you choose and why did you choose this animal?
  2. Comment on the challenge that you gave yourself for the geometric animal assignment.
  3. How were the results? Where you happy with the way your geometric animal turned out?
